TRON (TRX) price history in numbers: the quiet big coin
TRX had the smallest median daily move of 10 big coins on Binance, 1.28%, yet one day rose 95.82%. See weekly falls, yearly drops and 24-hour rises.
TRX was the quietest of the 10 big coins we measured, but it is not a calm coin every day. On Binance's TRXUSDT perp, the median day moved 1.28% in either direction from January 2020 to October 19, 2026, below Bitcoin's 1.38%. Yet 3.28% of TRX days moved more than 10%, against 1.31% for Bitcoin, and one day in December 2024 rose 95.82%.
All of this describes past cases. It is not a forecast.
How big is a normal TRX day?
We measure the absolute daily move: the change from one close to the next, sign removed, so a 2% rise and a 2% fall both count as 2%. The median is the middle day when all days are lined up by size. The mean is the plain average. A perp is a futures contract that never expires (what a perp is).
| Binance perp | Days measured | Median daily move | Mean daily move | Days that moved more than 10% | 99th percentile day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRXUSDT | 2,469 | 1.28% | 2.34% | 3.28% | 15.68% |
| BTCUSDT | 2,598 | 1.38% | 2.10% | 1.31% | 10.58% |
| BNBUSDT | 2,443 | 1.57% | 2.60% | 2.74% | 16.52% |
| ETHUSDT | 2,518 | 1.95% | 2.86% | 3.26% | 13.64% |
The 99th percentile is the size that 99 out of 100 days stayed below. TRX has the lowest median but a higher mean than Bitcoin. That gap means a few very large days pull the average up.
What happened on December 3, 2024?
TRX closed that day up 95.82%, its largest daily rise in this history. The next day it fell 23.68%. Its next-largest rises were +41.16% on March 31, 2021 and +25.51% on April 4, 2021.
Its three biggest daily falls were -43.83% on March 12, 2020, -32.45% on May 19, 2021 and that -23.68% on December 4, 2024. Two of them were also big down days for Bitcoin. On March 12, 2020 Bitcoin fell 39.98%, and May 19, 2021 was Bitcoin's worst day of 2021, at -14.44%. December 4, 2024 was different: TRX gave back part of its own jump from the day before.
That one December day is also the high from which TRX's worst fall of 2024 started: -43.69% by December 22, 2024. By October 19, 2026, no daily close had returned to the December 3, 2024 level.
How did TRX's typical day change by year?
TRXUSDT starts on January 15, 2020. The 2026 rows end on October 19.
| Year | TRX median day | BTC median day | TRX days over 10% | BTC days over 10% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 2.40% | 1.47% | 7.12% | 2.19% |
| 2021 | 3.17% | 2.35% | 10.14% | 2.74% |
| 2022 | 1.49% | 1.47% | 3.01% | 2.47% |
| 2023 | 1.03% | 1.00% | 0.82% | 0.27% |
| 2024 | 1.07% | 1.37% | 1.37% | 0.55% |
| 2025 | 1.04% | 1.15% | 0.00% | 0.00% |
| 2026 | 0.61% | 1.17% | 0.00% | 0.68% |
From 2020 to 2023, TRX was as wild as Bitcoin or wilder. From 2024 on, its median day was smaller than Bitcoin's every year. The 2026 median of 0.61% is the lowest yearly figure for any of the 10 coins. So "quiet" fits the last three years better than the whole history.
How often did TRX fall 10%, 20% or 30% in a week?
For each day we compared the close with the close 7 days earlier. The number in brackets counts episodes, separate stretches: an episode starts on the first day that crosses the line after at least 7 days without crossing it.
| 7-day fall of at least | TRX share of days (episodes) | BTC share of days (episodes) |
|---|---|---|
| 10% | 6.66% (37) | 6.79% (46) |
| 20% | 1.54% (14) | 1.27% (10) |
| 30% | 0.73% (5) | 0.35% (2) |
TRX had the smallest share of 10% weeks of all 10 coins, and fewer separate 10% episodes than Bitcoin. But it had more at 20% and 30%. Small weekly falls were rarer for TRX, deep ones more common. By year, the 10% share was 13.62% in 2020 and 15.34% in 2021 for TRX, against 4.92% and 14.52% for Bitcoin. In 2025 it was 1.10% for TRX against 3.29%, and in 2026 it was 0.34% against 5.48%.
What was TRX's worst fall in each year?
This is the deepest fall inside each calendar year, from the highest close so far that year. We then count the days from the low until a close got back to that high. "Not yet" means not by October 19, 2026.
| Year | TRX worst fall | TRX days low to recovery | BTC worst fall | BTC days low to recovery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | -68.32% | 157 | -54.00% | 137 |
| 2021 | -69.36% | 1,132 | -53.22% | 91 |
| 2022 | -43.13% | 316 | -66.94% | 446 |
| 2023 | -20.39% | 71 | -20.01% | 42 |
| 2024 | -43.69% | not yet | -26.26% | 61 |
| 2025 | -26.11% | 163 | -32.05% | not yet |
| 2026 | -16.12% | not yet | -39.52% | not yet |
TRX fell deeper than Bitcoin in 4 of these 7 years. Its deepest fall was -69.36% in 2021, from April 15 to July 20. It then took 1,132 days from that low for a close to reach the April high again, on August 25, 2024. In 2022, TRX fell less than Bitcoin (-43.13% against -66.94%) and recovered sooner.
The 2024 and 2026 "not yet" entries are unfinished cases. We do not know how long they will last. For the same yearly view of other coins, see our recovery times for 10 big coins.
How often did TRX rise over 24 hours, compared with a coin flip?
A fair coin lands heads 50% of the time. We took every hourly closing price on Binance TRXUSDT as a start and checked whether the close 24 hours later was higher. Over 59,248 starts, it was higher 53.84% of the time. For Bitcoin it was 51.88% across 62,335 starts.
| Year | TRX up after 24 hours | BTC up after 24 hours |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 54.09% | 58.03% |
| 2021 | 53.87% | 52.32% |
| 2022 | 51.96% | 46.88% |
| 2023 | 57.01% | 52.79% |
| 2024 | 53.65% | 53.75% |
| 2025 | 51.93% | 51.35% |
| 2026 | 54.53% | 51.15% |
That 53.84% was the highest of the 10 big coins we measured, and TRX was the only one above 50% in every year it traded. That includes 2022, when Bitcoin was below 50%. After a 0.05% fee each way, a long trade would have ended up in 51.74% of the windows. The median 24-hour move was +0.18% for TRX. The 10th and 90th percentiles were -3.20% and +3.41%.
What does this data not show?
It does not forecast anything, and it does not explain why TRX had quiet years or why it jumped on one day. This is one coin on one exchange. The 24-hour windows start every hour, so they overlap: the 59,248 starts are not 59,248 separate tests. A coin that rose over the years will show an up-share above 50% for that reason alone. And our 10 coins are big coins that still trade today, which can make history look kinder than it was for coins that faded away.
How we measured this
We used Binance daily and hourly price bars for the TRXUSDT and BTCUSDT perps, through October 19, 2026. Daily moves are close-to-close on UTC days. Weekly falls compare closes 7 days apart. Yearly falls restart the running high each January. The 24-hour numbers use hourly closes, with flat results counted as not up. Fees use an example 0.05% per side; funding, spread and slippage are not included.

- venue_markets confirms the TRX symbol on one exchange. Both tools are free.
Then ask: "Get Binance TRXUSDT daily bars from December 2024 and show the two biggest days."
- venue_bars returns completed open, high, low and close prices, plus volume. It works with 1d and 1h bars, and it is free.
To see look-alike charts, ask: "Search Binance TRXUSDT on 1h bars and show the 10 closest past charts."
- shape_analogs matches the latest bars of TRX on Binance only against TRX's own past on Binance. Each past case shows its own path and what the price did next, in basis points (a hundredth of a percent). It costs $0.01 per search and gives no average and no hit rate.
